The Full Review
Cordless grinders have been fast for a while. What they have not been is safe in the way a corded grinder with a dead-man switch is safe. The GWS 18V-10 is Bosch’s answer, and after six weeks on site it is the one our testers reach for without thinking.
KickBack Control is the headline. An onboard sensor watches for the rotational spike that precedes a bind and cuts the motor. We triggered it deliberately eleven times in a scrap steel rig; it caught every one, and the tool never once shut down during normal cutting.
The brake matters just as much and gets talked about less. From full speed our high-speed footage puts the stop at 1.6 seconds. That is the difference between setting a grinder down and setting it down safely.
On performance, it made 47 cuts through 40 mm box section on a 4.0 Ah pack. Makita’s DGA504 managed 44 on an equivalent battery. Close enough that safety, not speed, should decide this purchase.
