DeWalt DWE575 Review: Still the Benchmark Corded Saw

Eleven years old and still the saw we hand to an apprentice. At 3.9 kg it is the lightest full-size corded saw you can buy.

The Verdict

The default recommendation for anyone who wants one saw that will cut everything and does not want to think about batteries.

Pros and Cons

What we liked

  • 3.9 kg — lightest in the full-size corded class
  • Electric brake on a saw at this price
  • Excellent line of sight to the blade
  • Parts and blades available everywhere

What we didn’t

  • Bevel detents are coarse
  • Stock blade is worth replacing immediately
  • Dust port needs an adapter for most extractors

The Full Review

Some tools get replaced. The DWE575 gets re-bought. It launched in 2013, and in a category where every competitor has been through two redesigns since, it is still the saw we recommend most often.

The reason is weight. At 3.9 kg it is roughly 700 g lighter than the nearest full-power rival, and that difference decides whether a day of rafter cuts ends with a sore shoulder.

It is not perfect. The bevel adjustment has detents at 0 and 45 and nothing useful between, so anything off-angle needs a square and patience. The supplied 24-tooth blade is adequate for framing and poor for anything else — budget for a 40-tooth immediately.

Accuracy, once you fit a decent blade, is genuinely good. Across ten 45° cuts in 45 mm stock our worst deviation was 0.6 mm. For a handheld saw at this price that is a strong result.
